What these status pages actually poll

A public monitor cannot hold a session inside a hidden service, so what it measures is that some address answered with some HTML. That is a fact about a network path. It says nothing about whether a deposit landed, whether a dispute is moving, or whether the balance in your account is the balance you will be allowed to withdraw next month.

A percentage carried to eleven decimal places is the tell.
